About your workplace, the Social Office:

At the Social Office in Ödeshög, 20 people work with adult cases, children and youth, outpatient care, assistance handling, and administration.

The children and youth team investigates cases involving children and young people aged 0-20 and follows up on granted interventions for this target group. The adult group handles applications for financial assistance according to the Social Services Act and investigates resources and barriers to self-sufficiency. This group also deals with substance abuse cases and domestic violence. Assistance handlers investigate and grant interventions according to the Social Services Act and LSS. The Social Office also has five therapists who work with children, youth, families, and individuals with substance abuse problems.

You will have close cooperation with the unit manager and group leaders for adults and LSS/assistance.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

You will primarily be responsible for a workgroup that works with children and youth, consisting of a team of four social workers and two therapists. Your role as the first social worker mainly involves leading and distributing the daily work and supervising the social workers and therapists in their work to investigate, assess, decide, and follow up on interventions according to the Social Services Act and LVU. The role also includes receiving reports of concern and making an initial safety assessment and preliminary assessment regarding whether an investigation should be initiated.

The role of the first social worker involves providing close work leadership and working to ensure competence and quality in the operations. This includes acting as the acting unit manager when needed, being a team leader, being responsible for case reviews and case distribution, and supporting in difficult cases. You will hold group meetings once a week and be responsible for ensuring that established routines in the work are maintained. You will work closely with the unit manager and other group leaders and participate in the management group of the Social Office.

You will represent the social administration in courts and in forums where cooperation occurs with other municipal and regional operations.

QUALIFICATIONS

You need to have a leadership style characterized by personal maturity and clarity, and as the first social worker, you contribute to an active employee engagement. The work requires you to be communicative, clear, and attentive. By being interested and curious, you help employees feel seen and develop in their roles. You are professional, secure, and stable in your professional role and act in accordance with decisions made. You have the ability to make independent decisions within the framework of your assignment. You have the ability to work towards goals and ensure good quality. You also have the ability to adapt yourself and your working methods based on changing conditions, and you understand what it is like to work in a politically governed organization. You need to have a positive outlook and see opportunities for improvement, and since you have a leadership role, you are also expected to take responsibility for the whole.

We are looking for someone with a degree in social work or equivalent education with qualifications for child welfare, as well as several years of current experience in public authority work with children and youth. You have very good knowledge of current legislation and handling of children, youth, and their families. You express yourself well in Swedish, both spoken and written, as this is required in daily work. Experience in leadership or as a first social worker is an advantage.

A valid driver's license (B) is required for the position.
